For the first one and a half sets of the Australian Open men’s final between Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem, Djokovic was playing tennis about as well as it could be played.
Then, serving at 4–4 in the second set, Djokovic double-faulted, and fell behind 15–30.
Thiem, whose backhand down the line—his most imposing weapon—had not been working all day, found himself hitting into open court.
He lost the second set, and the third.
But, by the end of the third set, Djokovic appeared to be feeling better.
