Jamie Foxx has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award for his portrayal of former Alabama death-row inmate Walter McMillian in the upcoming film, “Just Mercy.”
“Just Mercy” chronicles world-renowned civil rights defense attorney Bryan Stevenson’s experiences as he fights to free condemned death row prisoner Walter McMillian.
In addition to nabbing film festival awards, “Just Mercy” is a favorite of awards season.
Tuesday, the African American Film Critics Association named “Just Mercy” as one of the 10 Best Films of 2019, and awarded Foxx Best Supporting Actor.
On Dec. 3, the National Board of Review named “Just Mercy” as one of their favorite films of 2019 with the “Freedom of Expression” award.
