– Mississippi State has fired head coach Joe Moorhead after two seasons.
Mississippi State athletic director John Cohen announced in a press release that a national search has started to find the 34th head coach in program history.
He said associate head coach Tony Hughes will serve as interim head coach.
Before then, he was the head coach at Fordham from 2012-15 and led the Rams to three FCS playoffs.
Mississippi State beat Mississippi in one of the most bizarre endings in the rivalry’s history.
