USA TODAYFreddie Kitchens won’t get a second chance with the Cleveland Browns.
The team fired the rookie head coach on Sunday after a 6-10 season, making him the 11th coach since 2000 to last only one year with an organization.
“I would like to thank Freddie for his dedication and efforts this past season,” general manager John Dorsey said in a statement.
Cleveland lost its final three games of the season, including a 33-23 defeat in the regular-season finale to the Cincinnati Bengals, who were previously 1-14.
Kitchens’ passing offense never rediscovered the spark that ignited it last season, as quarterback Baker Mayfield was markedly less efficient than he was in his rookie campaign.
