Rick Porcello, NY Mets agree to one-year deal, reports say

Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen and Co. now have the starting pitching depth they desired when they flew west.

“Championships are borne by great starting pitchers,” Van Wagenen said on Thursday at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

In his Cy Young season, Porcello went 22-4 with a 3.15 ERA.

That’s important when you consider that Wacha, whom the Mets feel has high upside, comes with injury questions.

He hasn’t had much success the past few seasons, but the Mets feel it can be a fruitful partnership.
