New Jersey districts called for delayed openings on Wednesday, Dec. 11 with an overnight storm expected to drop 1 to 3 inches of snow across much of the northern half of the state.

Snow was expected to be falling through much of the state around 5 a.m., though snowfall totals in the southern half of the state were expected to be below 1 inch.

The National Weather Service’s New York office issued a winter weather advisory for parts of the five northeastern New Jersey counties, where snowfall amounts could be closer to 3 inches.
